22 November 2017 –– Palermo, Sicily

Today was a late arrival and we had no definite plans, so after negotiating a sea of cabbies, horse-drawn, carriages, hop on/hop/off buses, etc., we decided to take a small train that moved slowly through the crowded streets to the main area of attractions and walk from there.

This was the worst port for hawking of services.  It was a plethora of bodies and pamphlets that you had to push your way through and still be polite.

After a 10 minute ride we arrived at the old part of the city, with a lot of churches, parks, and monuments.  The weather was perfect – warm in the sun, cool in the shade!  And so we walked!

As we arrived at the main cathedral area, Robbi discovered that there was an abundance of shops that had nativities for sale, and choosing one was difficult.  They were all very nice and some very unique, and some very expensive.  Even had some that were animated!!

We continued our walk back to the ship. It was nice to be on our own, but we didn’t pick up any historical tidbits.  We did see a lot of cool, old architecture.

Since the sun was so nice, John got some sun and Robbi got some rest, instead of “taxing” her brain with Mah-Jongg!!

So now as we prepare to set sail for our next port, Cagliari, Sardinia, we want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!!  We may have pigeon pie for ours!!   πŸ˜πŸ˜
