10 November 2017 –– Rome, Italy

We docked in the port of Civitavecchia, Italy, early this morning and met with our driver and our group, 8 people, much nicer that a huge busload.  And for navigating in the narrow streets and heavy traffic in Rome, it was perfect.  This way our driver was able to get us close to the sights that were most important and we didn’t waste time walking miles.
Robbi took some great photos, more than we can post here.  We arrived in Rome after about a 90 minute drive, which was complicated due to a public transit strike.  But our driver, Giovanni, maneuvered and got us to the Coliseum before the crowds.

We spent another 90 minutes in the Coliseum and then he took us around the city to see some important highlights, the Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps, etc.  We even stopped at a very famous pizza ristorante (Alice’s) for lunch.  Even saw the Brasilian Embassy.

Then on to the Vatican were we met with Isabella, a guide just for Vatican City.  The beauty there is simply indescribable.

Back to the ship with a the first raindrops of the day, but a beautiful sunset.

Naples tomorrow!!:-):-)

  1. I saw a lot of the same places when I was in Rome a month ago. We had parts of 3 days driving around the city, with stops at various places. The guide was very informative, but now I look at the photos I took and wonder what was important about that bridge, building or statue. Glad you’re having such a good time and getting to see some many interesting places.
