We are still at sea crossing the Atlantic towards the
Azores. Saturday, was quite
windy with spotty squalls through most of the day, but settled down by late
afternoon to a clear sky, and calmer winds.
Below are our first full day at sea, Sunrise pics, fore and aft.
Robbi has found her Mah-Jongg group and played most of Saturday. Really enjoying her fellowship with the Cruise Critic women. John spent most of the day working crosswords and soaking up rays!!
The entertainment has been great thus far and the staff is very nice and friendly, especially our stewards, Agus and Camelo. The food, with their new and improved salad bar, is a step up from our last Holland America cruise. New exercise equipment, especially the video cycles, has John staying fit.
One thing we really appreciate is a pastor on board from Woodstock, GA, who has daily devotional time and Sunday services. It’s a nice thing that we’ve come to expect from Holland America and we’re truly appreciative of this service!
Our first of many “towel creatures” started with many more to come. Our Manta Ray from Saturday is below

We had Sunday worship at 9:00am and we nearly had a full house, and just enough hymnals.
At noon we received word from the Captain that we are diverting to Bermuda due to a medical emergency and expect to be there by 9:00pm tonight
and be back enroute to Horta, Azores by 11:00pm. He doesn’t think this will affect our arrival
in Horta on the 27th. Hope
so!
Robbi played Mah-Jongg after church this morning and had a
second game this afternoon. Dinner was great and a very lively Latin Trio from Canada performed on stage. SUPERB! We returned to our room to find our "Towel" shrimp on our bed.
Bermuda is visible out our veranda and so we should be offloading our person soon.
This was an unexpected chance to post to our blog, so we hope all is well and we are really enjoying our adventure!
I've never seen a towel shrimp before! That gave me a chuckle. You're doing a great job with your posts/ pics! I hope the person they are evacuating is ok. It must not have been completely critical or they would have called in for a MediVac so that's good. With so many days to sail across, I'm sure they can make up the time for your first port. Wow, so glad you met up with the others from the CruiseCritic roll call and have already struck up new friendships! Fantastic that you are already getting in games of MahJongg! Any plans for Mexican Dominoes? :) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so fun! I'm glad you guys are enjoying the cruise. Send updates of your towel creatures! You know I love seeing them!
ReplyDeleteLoving the posts! Cindy C.
